Welcome to the start of a new month, and a new #AuthorOfTheMonth! Instead of just reading one book… I’ll be dedicating an entire month to my author of choice. Learning a bit about their writing style, and really jumping into their catalog. The Author of the Month could be a “new-to-me” author, or someone I’ve already read, but want to spotlight and share more about. Definitely let me know if you’re choosing an #AuthorOfTheMonth, as well!!
I first discovered Heather Webber a few years ago, when she was only writing paranormal cozy mysteries. I loved the idea of her stories (The Wishcraft Mysteries and The Magic Potion Mysteries) and have quite a few on my bookshelf, planning to dedicate a quiet afternoon to them. (Clearly, that plan had some flaws, lol!)
Now, Heather is writing what appears to be small town stories with a lean towards magical realism! Those of you who’ve followed my blog for any length of time KNOW how much I love that sub-genre. ❤
I am SO excited to MAKE some time to read MIDNIGHT AT THE BLACKBIRD CAFE, and SOUTH OF THE BUTTONWOOD TREE. Then, I’ll finally get to a couple of those cozies.

Nestled in the mountain shadows of Alabama lies the little town of Wicklow. It is here that Anna Kate has returned to bury her beloved Granny Zee, owner of the Blackbird Café.
It was supposed to be a quick trip to close the café and settle her grandmother’s estate, but despite her best intentions to avoid forming ties or even getting to know her father’s side of the family, Anna Kate finds herself inexplicably drawn to the quirky Southern town her mother ran away from so many years ago, and the mysterious blackbird pie everybody can’t stop talking about.
As the truth about her past slowly becomes clear, Anna Kate will need to decide if this lone blackbird will finally be able to take her broken wings and fly.

So — have any of you read Heather’s books (as “Blake” or “Webber”)? Are any of you going to read these with me? Are you choosing another author for an #AuthorOfTheMonth?
