Top Ten Tuesday: Reasons I’m Thankful for Books (plus Thanksgiving Titles!)

“Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” (via That Artsy Reader Girl blog)
Every Tuesday is given a topic, and blogs all over the bookisphere join in by posting their own take on the subject.
Since it’s Thanksgiving week here in the US, we’re talking about why we’re thankful for books/reading. I’m adding an extra list for anyone who may be looking for something to match the holiday.

  1. I’m thankful for books that reignighted my forgotten love of reading almost 20 years ago. (The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer)
  2. I’m thankful for books that create an irresistable need to research their historic inspiration. (The All Souls Series by Deborah Harkness)
  3. I’m thankful for books that feel like a song, a painting, or a story told directly into my heart. (Anything by Sarah Addison Allen.)
  4. I’m thankful for books that take me out of my “every day”, and make me laugh like crazy. (Any of Cynthia St Aubin’s or Tonya Kappes’ comedic mysteries.)
  5. I’m thankful for books from new-to-me authors that became binge-worthy favorites. (The Veronica Speedwell Series by Deanna Raybourn)
  6. I’m thankful for books that bring my friends and I together for fun conversations.
  7. I’m thankful for books that introduce me to new “author friends” who become “friend friends”.
  8. I’m thankful for all the places I get to visit on the page that I’ll never be able to see “in real life”.
  9. I’m thankful for the amazing things I’ve learned about cultures and people who’s life experiences are different from my own.
  10. I’m thankful for the feeling I get when someone else reads a favorite book I’ve given them, and they love it as much as I do.

Thanksgiving Treachery by Tonya Kappes
Holiday Cozy Mystery, #7

Thanksgiving by Janet Evanovich
Pre-Plum Romance Novel

Treasuring His Thanksgiving by Dawn McGraw
Dragon’s Mate Holiday Series, #2

My Thanksgiving Faux Paw by Renee George
Peculiar Mysteries Series – In Between

The Thanksgiving One by Tawdra Kandle
Love In A Small Town, #22

I’d love to hear why YOU are thankful for books and reading.
And if you have Thanksgiving titles to suggest, please share them in the comments!!

I hope everyone has a lovely holiday, spent in whatever way makes you most happy.
